Itinerary - Either 16th - 19th Sep or 28th Sep - 1st Oct

4 days, 3 nights Oktoberfest

Includes either a mixed dorm in a hostel or double/triple accommodation in a 3 star hotel. Both accommodations are in a central location near the HBF station, easy to access and a short walk to the festival. Dorm rooms are mixed and hotels are either same sex or mixed. Please note if you have a preference at the time of booking.

Includes a reservation in a tent with a meal.

16 September or 28 September

Arrive Munich, check into the hotel. You'll have a few hours of free time in which we suggest you buy your Oktoberfest outfit from one of the local stores. Meet your crew for the next few days over a beer or wine in a local beer garden weather permitting or a local beer hall.

17 September or 30 September

Wander around and get your bearings, go to a beet tent or see the stalls. Today, you could also do one of the optional extras, do a walking tour or see the Dachau Concentration Camp.

18 September or 29 September

We have a reservation at one of the tents so that's where our base will be for the afternoon. Here we'll enjoy a traditional German meal and everyone can check out the other tents, rides and obviously the beer. Prost!

19 September or 1 October

It's time to check out at 11am, say goodbye to your Oktoberfest family but don't worry there's always next year!

Tips for Oktoberfest

Plan Ahead - Things sell out fast!!

Train tickets to Munich can be purchased about three months ahead of time. The trains are packed out. If you can get a seat reservation, get one, otherwise you might be sitting on the floor the whole journey to Munich. Flights are also expensive so make sure to book them in advance.

Seats

There are approximately only 80,000 seats in the main beer tents and approximately 600,000 visitors to Oktoberfest daily. Either go early to the festival or go in a group who have a table reservation. Table reservations are for a minimum of 8-10 people. If you see empty seats you can always join other people and a lot of the time people might ask you to join them in the true Oktoberfest spirit.

Tip your servers

If you don't tip your servers they are unlikely to come back to serve you and it will be more difficult to get a beer.

What to wear

I know you might not want to spend €70+ on an outfit you may never wear again but really it's worth it and it's a good take home souvenir. If you wear a cheap costume outfit there are some tents which may not let you in and some German's who will give you the evil eye. If your coming with us we have some outfits for hire for €25 for the three days but they are limited so first come, first served.

Checklist

Bring cash - the tents don't accept card - last year beers were between 13-15 euros

Don't bring any large bags or backpacks

Make sure you leave time to go to the bathroom. Most tents have a lot of toilets but with all the drinking there can be a decent queue.

Learn some of the history: Fun fact, did you know Oktoberfest started out as a wedding. Everyone had such a great time they decided to do it every year.
